Nail Art: Black Tie Beads
Good evening, readers--I'm off to a grand opening gala black tie event, and wanted to share my nails with you before I go! How did I get the dots on my nails so small, you ask? Magic! And that magic is Sharpies.
- Paint nails with base coat of white (to make the next color show up brighter)
- Paint with two coats of shiny pale gold
- Wait for it to dry; really dry, or the next step won't work. Like, wait a couple hours at least.
- Draw design in black Sharpie, also wait to dry.
- Spray nails with hairspray. You read that right! This prevents the clear topcoat from smudging the Sharpie designs. Wait to dry. You may need to repeat this step a few times if the topcoat does smudge in the next step. Your hairspray may be stronger than mine; I hairsprayed and let dry three or four times.
- Top with clear nail polish or topcoat. Again, if it smudges, stop, and go back to the hairspray step before proceeding. Start the topcoat with a little pinky nail so you can tell if it's going to smudge before doing your thumb or a more prominent finger.
Voila! You now know the magic secret of Sharpie nail art: hairspray.
I'll let you know how the event goes in a later post! Have a lovely evening, readers.
